BRUSHETTA SIGNS

Val from Brushetta Signs approached me to design a logo for her sign painting and design business. Designing for a  sign painter who is already a strong designer can be a little intimidating, but Val gave me a lot of creative freedom and trust. After a few sketches and some great conversations, I developed a graphic that feels rooted in traditional sign painting styles, but distilled into a sharp, usable graphic, versatile for modern applications.

PROCESS

The custom “Brushetta” lettering draws inspiration from mid-century hand-painted scripts and my partner Tina Vines refined the script even further—she excels in this lettering style and brought a lot of finesse to the final forms. “SIGNS” was drawn in a bold, bouncy 1930s-style poster alphabet to add contrast and structure. And for the painter's palette, I leaned into the stippling style of shading commonly found in design from that same era.
