RUTH SCRIPT | TYPEFACE

“Ruth Script” is a typeface that I designed to capture the spirit of lettering found on bowling shirts and club jackets of the 1950s-60s. It is a revival of the “Artistic Script” alphabet, originally created by Ruth Franklin, a legendary chain-stitch embroidery operator who worked for Nudie Cohn.
I meticulously refined the alphabet, cleaning up lettering weights while expanding it into a complete typeface with additional characters, numbers, and punctuation. The font set includes two styles: Outline and Filled, offering versatility for various application.
The result is a typeface that retains the quirks and charm of a hand-lettered script, carefully translated for modern design use—perfect for branding, apparel, and packaging.
