ROLE: LETTERING & LAYOUT
PENCIL, CHAIN STITCH EMBROIDERY

SERVICE & SUPPLY

In the past, logo design often lived in the hands of sign painters and embroidery lettering shops—who considered the final medium from the very beginning. I carry that same philosophy into my work. For this project, I combined a bold 1930s poster alphabet with my interpretation of Walter Wege’s iconic 1931 brush script, Signal. The final mark was stitched using a hand-operated embroidery machine from the 1920s.

PROCESS
Letterforms were developed with embroidery in mind from the start. I adjusted stroke weight, spacing, and proportions to work well with embroidery, then stitched the final design using my hand-operated chainstitch machine from the 1920s.
